“A pilgrimage represents the days we live. We represent the pilgrims making footsteps in life.” The thesis of the program comtemplates on the basic meaning of life. The pilgrimage of “Life” does not have a final destination as it is in religious pilgrimages. Reaching a destination is not all means of a pilgrimage. The true meaning of a pilgrimage is instead the process itself that instigates the enlightenment. Living a life, therefore, resembles walking a pilgrimage. Embodying the history of mankind, the pilgrimage has linked the past and the future. We silently walk through pilgrimage, just as we silently walk through life. We are now about to walk, just as pilgrims had walked, and treasure greater value in life without an elaborate splendor.

1 Goodbye My Girlhood (Farewell My Girlhood)

Portrays the life of an adolescent girl who lives in Ladakh, India, the process of becoming a bhikkhuni(Buddhist nun) and all sorts of human emotions that an ordinary girl experiences through practicing asceticism as a bhikkhuni.
Makes an impression of ‘being alive’ with the general emotion of family and friends that everyone has regardless of race and lifestyle.

Northern Ladahk, India that the Himalayas passes through,
In January when all rivers freeze, a mountain wind of Himalayas is bitter. Among 200 monks who cross the Mt. Zalung Karpo La of 5,200 above the sea level in minus 30 degrees, there is sixteen year-old young nun, Sonam Wangmo.
A snow mountain is colored by a kind of pilgrimages, ‘Pad Yatra(Journey by Foot)’ which is one of religious trainings of Tibetan Buddhism’s communion called Drukpa.
While they were passing through the rough mountain road which is called Hill of Death that even locals fall by altitude sickness, Sonam Wangmo also lost her conscious and collapse.
Sonam Wangmo’s family is consist of her parents, five siblings and twenty sheeps.
Because of her home situation, her three siblings work in the city as housekeepers.
7 years ago, Sonam Wangmo came back to her town after worked as a housekeeper in the city. So, she is going to middle school while all her friends are highschool students.
To the family who’s self-supporting by farming a barley field and breeding sheeps which is all of their assets, there is the most threatening thing except for the poverty.
Every night, girls sleep outside next to sheep’s cage to protect them from this threatening being. It is to keep an eye on snow leopards which can come anytime to kill sheeps.
The girl decides to become a monk to help out her poor family’s burden.
Girl’s parents who already got apart with three other children, however, quarrel their situation and oppose to her decision but soon, they realise that live as a monk is better for her than living in mountains with needy situation.
The pilgrimage that she had in a month after being a monk was a crueller path than a poverty in a mountain village. In this new journey of life, the girl becomes an adult.

2 The memory of Qolqe Punku

It doesn’t matter whether it was the way to survive, the way of healing to find oneself, or the way of salvation to the god, eventually it is returning to Eden that mankind has left before.
Eden, the paradise without differential boundaries, it is still exist deep inside of mankind’s memory. Every May in Peru in South America, the descendants of Inca follow their memory of community and head to their Eden which is believed to have endless flow of life energy.
The Andes, the Sinakara valley which is above 4500 meters, the million kilometers of Pilgrimage for the snow star to the place, and three days of festival, how the life and redemption that descendant of the Inca face there would flow above the boundaries?

3 Homeward Bound

In Tanzania, Africa, the footprint fossil of modern humans was found. It is the trace of that mankind started to walk on two feet and took its first step. As Adam and Eve got expelled from the Eden and lived with hardship, as mankind started to walk erect, they developed the civilization and wrote the history through endless invasion, war, enmity and harmony. How is individuals’ life hidden in this greatly evolving history of human-being?

There is a man named ‘Oury Samba Ba’ who lives a day with panning for salt at beautiful Lac Rose in Senegal.
He has family of two wives and 16 children. It is hard to live with a family with a daily wage of 10 dollars but he has a dream. It is returning to his father’s land. He saves money to return but his life won’t let him do that. Will he be able to go back to his father’s land with his family?
It is very small part of making human history but through the life of African worker, we rediscover the value of normal life similar to the pilgrimage of pilgrim.

4 Middle of Nowhere

Mankind’s hardship started outside of Eden has created modern civilization. With the rapid development of civilization, however, the mankind loses the way of life with mental issues more than physical pains. Like Jason who starts journey to find the Golden fleece in myth, the modern survivors leave the city and starts long journey in the wild.
Pacific Crest Trail, the wild pilgrimage of 4,285km that follows the Rockies from the Mexican border to the Canadian border, the healing message from survivors who left for their extreme journey in the wild.
